The Rev. Dr. Renee A. Meyer
Renee grew up in Clarksville, Tennessee and graduated from Austin Peay State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1988. She then worked for a year as an R.N. at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville before moving to Memphis, TN in order to attend Memphis Theological Seminary. At that time she thought her calling was to medical missionary work. By the end of her seminary career, however, she accepted a call as Associate Pastor to a congregation in Marshall, Texas. Since then she has felt that her call to ministry is to serve churches as solo pastor.
In 2002 Renee graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree. Her concentration was in preaching. She has continued her academic career and is currently working on the dissertation phase of an Interdisciplinary Ph.D. from the University of Missouri- Kansas City. Her primary discipline is Religious Studies and her secondary discipline is Sociology. For the last eighteen years she has served churches in the western part of Missouri. Since 2006 she was also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, teaching courses such as: Gender and Religions, Introduction to Comparative Religions and a course she developed called Christianity.
Renee is married to Jerry Meyer, who has been a family practice physician for the last forty-three years. He has just retired from active practice. They have one daughter, Courtney Fall, who resides with her husband, Davey, in Blue Springs, Missouri. Courtney is a therapist.
Renee has been pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Murray since June 2014. On September 14, 2014, Western Kentucky Presbytery formally installed her as pastor.
